Stained Glass Panel of Coat of Arms
£700.00+ VAT
Beautifully coloured Victorian salvaged glass. Detailed and skilfully hand painted areas are combined with bright stained glass segments, creating a wonderful ecclesiastical image. Particularly notable are the small leaded circles which create a bright blue simulated frame border and allow most light to pass through, creating a striking balance with the darker areas of the painted glass. The piece shows a coat of arms in a simulated gothic arch above a banner reading “ECCE SACERDOS MAGNUS” meaning “behold the great priest” and is an antiphon and a responsory from the common of confessor bishops in the Liturgy of the Hours and in the Graduale Romanum, and the Epistle in their proper Mass.
