Vallauris Oyster Platter

This vintage 1960s Vallauris oyster serving platter made of ceramic is an expressive piece of mid-century French majolica art pottery. The platter features heavy ‘Fat Lava’ drip glaze, characterised by a thick, high-gloss texture mimicking molten volcanic rock with a brown, turquoise, and orange glaze. This plate features 12 individual, molded shell-shaped wells arranged in a circle to hold oysters, surrounding a bright yellow center well meant for lemon slices or mignonette sauce. Small plates also available at £15+VAT each.
