Vallauris Oyster Plates Set of 5

These vintage 1960s Vallauris oyster serving platters made of ceramic are an expressive piece of mid-century French majolica art pottery. The platters features heavy ‘Fat Lava’ drip glaze, characterised by a thick, high-gloss texture mimicking molten volcanic rock with a brown, turquoise, and orange glaze. This set includes one large plate which features 12 individual, molded shell-shaped wells arranged in a circle to hold oysters, surrounding a bright yellow center well meant for lemon slices or mignonette sauce. With four small plates, each with six individual, molded wells to hold oysters and a centre well for a sauce.
