Early 20th Century Carved Hardwood Ashanti Stool

A beautifully carved Ashanti stool, a symbol of chieftaincy in Ghanian culture that also hold a spiritual meaning of holding the owner’s souls. When not in use they were leaned over so that other souls would pass and not settle.
